A Boutique Consultancy That Actually Does the Work
RyLi Business Group is a husband-and-wife team helping product brands break through growth plateaus and creators build platforms they actually own. We’re not a big agency with layers of account managers. We’re the people who answer your emails, build your systems, and obsess over your results.
Meet the Founders

Ryan Schlemmer
Principal Consultant
I’ve spent 15+ years in e-commerce and technology. My experience is not as a consultant watching from the sidelines, but as someone actually running the businesses. I still operate CastleMania Games, a retro gaming e-commerce store awarded by Shopify for crossing the 100k orders shipped threshold.
Before RyLi, I built and led the national accounts division for a major supplier, built WordPress and Shopify stores from scratch, and learned what actually moves the needle versus what just looks good in a proposal.
When I work with clients, I bring an operator’s perspective. I’ve felt the cash flow pinch of a delayed product launch. I’ve stayed up fixing a broken checkout at 2am. I know the difference between strategy that sounds smart and strategy that actually works.
What I focus on: E-commerce growth, platform migrations, WordPress/Shopify development, CCaaS implementations, and helping brands expand from Amazon into D2C and retail.

Lisa Schlemmer
CFO & Project Manager
Twenty years in accounting taught me that numbers tell a story, but only if you know how to read them. I’ve managed finances for organizations of all sizes, from small businesses to complex multi-entity structures, and I bring that financial rigor to everything we do at RyLi.
Over the years, I’ve developed my project management and front-end technical skills. I now manage projects end-to-end: scoping, timelines, client communication, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Clients work directly with me because I believe in accountability, not handoffs. When I say something will be done by Friday, it’s done by Friday. When the budget says X, we deliver at X. No surprise invoices, no scope creep excuses.
What I focus on: Financial strategy, project management, operational systems, and making sure every engagement delivers measurable value.

Cotton
Chief Morale Officer
Every great team needs someone who keeps spirits high and deadlines in perspective.
Cotton specializes in well-timed office interruptions, enthusiastic meeting participation, and reminding us that sometimes the best strategy is a walk around the block.
Why We Started RyLi
We’ve been on the other side of the table. We’ve hired agencies that talked a big game and delivered PowerPoints.
We’ve worked with developers who disappeared mid-project. We’ve sat through “strategy sessions” that produced nothing but invoices.
RyLi exists because we wanted to build the kind of consultancy we wished we could have hired.
That means no account managers playing telephone between you and the people doing the work.
No locking you into proprietary systems so you can’t leave. No proposals stuffed with buzzwords and light on specifics.
Instead: direct communication with the people actually building your project. Honest scoping; if something will take six weeks, we’ll tell you six weeks, not two weeks with inevitable change orders. And you own everything we build. Your code, your accounts, your data. If you decide to move on, you take it all with you.
What We Believe
Execution Over Advice
Strategy without implementation is just expensive conversation. We don’t hand you a roadmap and wish you luck—we build the thing, launch the thing, and optimize the thing alongside you.
Transparency Over Polish
We’d rather give you an honest “this will be hard” than a polished “no problem” that falls apart later. You’ll always know where things stand, what’s working, and what isn’t.
Relationships Over Transactions
We’re not trying to maximize billable hours. We want clients who grow with us over years, not projects we churn through. Your success is quite literally our business model.
Ready to Talk?
No pitch, no pressure, just a conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and whether we’re the right fit to help you get there.
